Zoom On! Yoga Classes
Everyone has tight hips. Whether it’s due to too much sitting, being at the computer too long, not enough exercise, or just not knowing how to utilize asanas to help relieve tight hips. And, unfortunately when our hips are tight our lower backs, shoulders, and minds can become tight.
In this class, we practice a variety of asanas to help us strengthen and lengthen the muscles in our legs, hips, abdominal area, psoas, and lower back so that we can increase the range of movement in these targeted areas.
I introduce you to a technique called facilitated stretching, that teaches us how to contract (shortens) a tight muscle to encourage muscles to release (lengthen).
And finally, our practice integrates breathing techniques and bandhas (“locks”) so that we can breathe out tightness, feel connected and stabile, and feel more positive energy flowing within us.
Making Gratitude Our Practice
Oftentimes we overuse our minds to get ahead, causing potential strain in our brain. I call this being in beta brainwaves, where we can be too linear, goal oriented, and driven. Unfortunately, if we reside in this driven state of mind, we can miss out receiving the joy of life.
In this class, we practice synchronizing an “attitude of gratitude” with our asanas, pranayama, and meditation. With our asana practice we learn how to let go and relax and relieve tension in our head, neck, and shoulders. Our pranayama practice teaches us to exhale deeply to let go of “thinking” obstacles. Our meditation assists in surrendering to what is and living in the moment with gratitude in our hearts.
When: October 10 – 11 , 2020
Days: Saturday – Sunday
Time: 10:00 am -11:30 am (Eastern Time Zone)

Aim of Asanas Each pose I teach during these classes is designed to help you release any stored pain, anxiety, stress, or tension you may be experiencing so that your vital energy – prana – can move freely through your whole entire body. When your vital energy is flowing freely (not obstructed), you experience positive emotions, revitalized energy, mental clarity, lightness, pain relief, and a sense of overall well-being.
Pranayama Each class incorporates pranayama techniques, such as alternate nostril breathing and soft belly breathing, to calm the mind and relax the nervous system.
Try This Fun and Uplifting Pranayama Practice: Practice this guided Wim Hof breathing technique. Try practicing outside or while you are biking, breathing in the benefits of clean, fresh air and sunshine.
The Yang and Yin of Yoga We practice balancing the yang energy (doing/effort) and the yin energy (receiving/effortlessness) of each pose to experience lightness, strength, fluidity, freedom, and revitalized energy.

Kari Tomashik is a true and kind teacher of Eischens Yoga. She has taken Roger Eischen’s groundbreaking work much further. Kari is both a very clear communicator who can help the uninitiated and experienced practitioner to learn about their body/mind/spirit, and an experimenter who keeps her ego out of the way of her focus on the learner.
I had the distinct pleasure of studying yoga and taking classes with Roger and Kari in Madison for around four years. I learned volumes! As another student put it, their method of teaching is like the “philosopher’s stone” applied to yoga. Classes were both insightful and delightful on account of Kari’s whimsical sense of humor. The vibe was intense and focused yet without taking anything too seriously. We had fun while devoting ourselves to precise alignment. I highly recommend their Iyengar-style technique and Kari‘s personal teaching style!"
I met Kari on my travels in Pai, (Thailand). I was so lucky to have the chance to practice with her on my morning sessions. Kari showed me with a few words and gentle adjustments the way to open my heart. But more valuable to integrate & strengthen that open heart. Kari is an authentic, natural born teacher who shares her experience from deep down in her beautiful heart! Everlasting gratitude."
I have known Kari for a number of years. She is unequaled in her dedication to using yoga as a vehicle to understand her place in the world and make an impact in the lives of those she encounters. She has a deep knowledge of the workings of the human body – derived from her personal practice and her many years of teaching. She approaches each individual as a unique person and treats all with respect. Besides that, she has a great sense of humor and an assured yet gentle manner."
