Heart and Lung Chakra Power
The heart and lungs are deeply connected to each other and each organ lives and breathes inside the heart chakra (anahata) and thoracic cavity. The heart represents love, joy, and compassion and the lungs represent grief, letting go, and completeness. Together, the heart and lungs communicate and balance the power of receiving and letting go!
The upper respiratory tract (nose, mucus, nasopharynx, and lymph nodes) is the body’s first line of defense that protects you from viruses and pathogens. You have approximately 300 lymph nodes in your head and neck regions, whose primary job is to kill off incoming pathogens like the coronavirus and influenza — before they can move deeper into the body. If pathogens enter the lungs, macrophages (a type of white blood cell) will ingest and kill the pathogens.
The heart pumps and transports blood, red blood cells, lymph, and white blood cells (immune cells) throughout the body. The white blood cells look for foreign invaders in cells and in tissues. When the white blood cells locate a virus or pathogen, an immune response is triggered that attacks or kills the pathogen. T cells and B cells (part of the immune system) respond by proliferating and by creating antibodies to fight off and defend the body against foreign viruses or bacteria. The B cells also create memory cells so that if the pathogen enters the body again the memory cells immediately recognize the pathogen and the immune system responds instantly.
