Parsva Virasana –  Seated Twist on a Block

  • Sit with knees bent on a yoga block.
  • Place a rolled blanket under your ankles for support.
  • Place your hands on your thighs.
  • Establish your seat and upright spine.  
  • Take both of your arms upward.
  • Gently twist to the right, place your right hand behind you on the block, and place your left hand on your right knee or thigh.
  • On your exhalation twist deeper into the pose, without force. 
  • Hold the pose for 5-10 soft breath cycles. 
  • On your inhalation, twist out of the pose.
  • Repeat on the second side with opposite directions. 
  • Repeat the pose 3x on each side.
  • Afterwards, feel the effects of the pose.
  • Relax.
