Pain Relief for Your Head, Neck, and Shoulders

Standing poses, twists, domes, forward flexions, and restoratives all can relieve muscular pain and tension in the head, neck, and shoulders, when practiced with alignment, awareness, and intention.

When muscle tightness diminishes more blood can flow into the head and neck, nourishing the brain with more oxygen and nutrients. When more blood flows freely to the brain, we feel a sense of calm, flowing energy and experience a deeper state of relaxation. 

Benefits include:

  • Relieve muscular tension and pain in the head, neck, and shoulders.
  • Relieve pain in the upper back and shoulders.
  • Relieve anxiety, insomnia, and emotional instability.
  • Relieve irritability, boredom, lack of concentration, and depression.
  • Quiet the sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight response), so your mind feels relaxed.
  • Engage the parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest”), so you can recharge energy system.

Healing Injury? For those who have a history of injury or trauma and notice that the effects of the minor/major injuries are beginning to interfere with your everyday lives, please note that all of the yoga classes are naturally healing.

Each yoga class is designed to help release stored pain, anxiety, stress, or tension you may be experiencing so that vital, healing energy – prana – can move freely through the entire body. When vital energy is flowing freely (not obstructed), you experience positive emotions, revitalized energy, mental clarity, lightness, pain relief, and an overall sense of well-being.


Whether you have attended any of my yoga classes in the past or not, you are welcome to attend any or all of these classes.
