Get Your Head on Straight

This yoga class focuses on practicing standing postures, simple inversions, domes, seated twists, and forward folds with an emphasis on releasing tension in the head, neck, and shoulder regions of the body.

I will guide you through an Artful Alignment yoga series and direct your awareness and attention to the alignment and placement of our shoulder blades, neck, and head. When the shoulder blades, collarbone, cervical (neck) vertebrae, and head align you experience an upright feeling of buoyancy, energy, and relaxation. 

When we add gentle neck twists to Artful Alignment the neck muscles are invited to release muscular tension. When the neck muscles release tension more blood flow travels into the neck and head regions, nourishing the brain with more oxygen and nutrients. We feel a sense of calm, flowing energy and experience a deeper state of relaxation. 


Asansa:  Standing twists, seated twists, standing postures, domes, forward folds, and restoratives. 

Pranayama: Each yoga class incorporates pranayama techniques, such as alternate nostril breathing and diaphragmatic (belly) breathing, to calm the mind, soothe the nervous system, and optimize the body’s natural healing capacity. 

Pranayma (breath work) maintains healthy lungs where gas exchange occurs  (oxygen from the air is transported to the blood and carbon dioxide is eliminated from the blood into the air) and connects us to prana, where vital- life energy is exchanged with the trees where oxygen is received and carbon dioxide is given.

Healing Injury? For those who have a history of injury or trauma and notice that the effects of the minor/major injuries are beginning to interfere with your everyday lives, please note that all of the yoga classes are naturally healing.

Each yoga class is designed to help release stored pain, anxiety, stress, or tension you may be experiencing so that vital, healing energy – prana – can move freely through the entire body. When vital energy is flowing freely (not obstructed), you experience positive emotions, revitalized energy, mental clarity, lightness, pain relief, and an overall sense of well-being.


Whether you have attended any of my yoga classes in the past or not, you are welcome to attend any or all of these classes.
